LUS is issuing a Boil Notice for all LUS water customers until further notice.
What does this mean?
A boil water notice is issued to protect consumers when it is possible that drinking water has been contaminated by microorganisms that can cause illness. This may be in response to known microbiological contamination, or as a precaution when conditions pose a threat of microbiological contamination.

Why is this notice being issued?
Common reasons for a boil water notice include loss of pressure in the water distribution system, loss of disinfection, and other water quality concerns caused by water line breaks, power outages and floods.
How long will this be in effect?
In order to remove/lift a boil notice, LUS will need to ensure water quality once again meets the standards set by the State of Tennessee.
As soon as LUS is informed that the notice can be lifted all LUS customers will be notified.
