Electric Department-Engineering

Our engineering department works directly with the public to help new and existing customers solve problems that might arise in new construction and maintenance. Our engineers are available at any time for questions or help with any electric support by phone or appointment.

Security Lights

Security lights for your outdoor illumination are a service provided by LUS. Prior to installation of the light, inspection and spotting for the pole must be completed by consultation with one of our engineers. These can be scheduled by phone or stopping by our office during normal operating hours. For more information see our Products & Services page.

New Construction

When building overhead power to a house on a foundation, LUS will build the first 500ft free, then there will be a charge of $3 per additional foot. This only applies to a house that is enclosed and larger than 400 square feet. Customer must have a 911 address and sanitary sewer letter (septic tank if outside city limits) before power can be supplied. The temporary service pole must be provided by the customer. One of our engineers must come meet the customer during office hours to spot the temporary service pole and/or stake the power line if needed. A specification sheet is supplied on our website. The temporary service for construction will not be connected with power until signs of construction are visible and an electrical inspection is approved by the State Electrical Inspector. Further information is available in our office or by phone.
